If you are getting married in 2027, inspiration images can help shape your plans. They can also make it difficult to distinguish what you like from what seems essential simply because it appears everywhere online.
This guide separates a current source from the choices that remain yours. It is not a shopping list, and it does not present a forecast as an established fact about Italian weddings.
One source, and its limits
The Knot’s 2027 Wedding Trends Report, updated on 28 September 2026 and checked again on 25 October, presents predictions drawing on editorial analysis, selected vendors and data about its US audience. It highlights personalisation, guest experience, sophisticated colours and editorial-cinematic photography. It does not measure how common these choices are in Italy.
The photographs used here belong to the portfolio. They do not show weddings from 2027 or prove a trend. The questions below are practical advice for evaluating ideas, rather than findings from the research.
First question: does this idea feel like us?
When you save a reference, note what you like about it. It might be a colour, intimate light or the way people are together. Identifying that detail makes it easier to discuss without asking for a copy of the image.
Try choosing a few references and describing them without naming things to buy. “We want to feel close to our guests” or “we love a lively party” can guide a conversation better than a folder of incompatible scenes.
Second question: does it work in our venue and schedule?
An idea needs to be considered in the real spaces, with the expected guest numbers and available alternatives. Before adding it, ask whoever is coordinating the day what it involves: space, timing, people and options for adapting it.
Share visual references with your photographer and filmmaker. Light, distances and the time of day change the result. An inspiration photograph does not guarantee that the same scene can be made in identical conditions.
Third question: does it leave time to enjoy the wedding?
Every additional event takes time and attention. Ask whether you genuinely want to experience it or are adding it mainly to obtain a photograph.
This does not mean giving up visual ideas. It means choosing those that belong in your day without turning every part into a performance. If you want guided portraits, agree on them and let the rest of the story follow what happens.
Can cinematic references and documentary photography coexist?
A visual reference can help you discuss composition and atmosphere without staging the whole wedding. Establish which images you want to create together and which parts you want to experience uninterrupted. The comparison of documentary and traditional photography helps separate aesthetics from working methods.
How to discuss ideas with your photographer and filmmaker
Bring references and priorities, as well as questions. Ask which elements depend on light, which on the schedule and which need specific coverage arrangements. Explain what you do not want too: frequent interruptions, elaborate poses or a long absence from the party.
Simone is the principal photographer and filmmaker; coverage in both media is agreed without promising impossible simultaneous presence. Explore photography and films, the working approach or the guide to early planning decisions.
The most useful reference is one you recognise yourselves in. Explore the portfolio and, if you would like to discuss photographs, film and priorities, tell me about your wedding plans. You do not need to have every detail decided.
